Menu buttons and text boxes are described in tooltips that are visible while hovering mouse arrow over them. Moreover, below you can find a short description of main program's functions:

Launching and closing the program:

  • Double click on BibleShow 4 icon located on the desktop; or follow the commands: Start - Programs - BibleShow 4 - BibleShow.
  • To leave the software you may click on Exit button.

Reference input:
  • Select in list boxes: the bible version, book, chapter and verse number; or
  • Type the reference in the corresponding textbox using shortcuts (for example: mt6.9) followed by Enter key or View button.
  • Press Information button to learn more about a specific bible version.

Display control:
  • The current verse is projected on the screen while Show button is depressed. If you find it grayed out, this means you must select a clear (complete) scripture reference.
  • Use Hide button to clear (blank, remove) the image displayed on the screen.
  • Browse through the text using up/down arrow buttons. These become grayed out when first and last book's verse is reached.

Text browsing:
  • This is the panel where you can browse the Scripture text, but also find a bible verse based on the reference, that is selected by pressing version, book, chapter and verse number buttons. Initial menu can be accessed by pressing Choose... button.
  • The browser displays the current verse, but also the previous and the next one, if available. At the bottom of the page you can find hyperlinks to other verses and chapters of the current book.
  • At the left side of each verse there're 2 buttons: one to show the text on the screen and the second one is to add the reference in program list.
  • Also, you are able to search quickly for a phrase by selecting it and pressing Search selection button. This command may not work properly on some computers.

Monitor and preview:
  • In this window you may preview the current Scripture while Preview button (found in Options - Themes panel) is depressed.
  • Also, here you are able to preview any changes made in Options - Configure panel of the active theme or display window.
  • In all other cases, when preview is not enabled, in this window you will see the live image that is displayed on projection screen.

Scripture search:
  • Type in Text box the word or expression you want to search for, then press Enter or Search. Additionally you can enable three search options to reduce the number of found occurrences.
  • Here are the wildcards recognized by software:
    • ? - replaces any letter. Example: searching M?thus?la - returns: Methuselah, Mathusala
    • * - replaces any string. Example: searching Paul * Barnabas - returns: Paul and Barnabas, Paul said unto Barnabas, Paul also and Barnabas etc.

  • There are 5 categories for theme configuration: Background, Border, Layout, Text and Transition.
  • The background may be transparent, solid color, picture, video or gradient animation. Default folder for saving background files is Backgrounds, located in BibleShow installation folder. Video clips must be loopable for smooth playback. Find below some websites with free pictures and video loops that I just found with no extensive research:
  • Using the border might be attractive in some situations, especially if it's applied discretely.
  • Layout menu allows you to adjust the size and position of reference and verse containers.
  • Reference and verse text can be formatted by changing the font, alignment, outline and shadow settings. There are endless combinations; you are limited just by your imagination.
